Boston’s South End Open Studios Celebrates 40 years

South End Open Studios 2026 is celebrating an extraordinary milestone—the 40th anniversary of bringing artists, their studios, and the public together in Boston’s vibrant and historic South End.
This free annual public event takes place September 19 and 20 and is sponsored by the United South End Artists (USEA), a volunteer-run nonprofit organization of artists and arts enthusiasts, committed to advancing USEA’s mission of cultivating a community that promotes art and artistic development in Boston’s South End.
The entire neighborhood comes alive during Open Studios, offering a wonderful opportunity to experience a diverse and eclectic range of artistic mediums and styles. Painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, jewelry, fiber arts, glass, metal and woodworking, ceramics, mixed media, and art incorporating cutting-edge technology are all represented. More than 100 artists will be sharing their work across 10 locations, including two group sites and one communal exhibition.

The Piano Craft Gallery is hosting this year’s South End Open Studios Group Show, featuring the work of more than 40 South End artists representing nine artist buildings. Collectors and art lovers can preview the participating artists’ work and discover which studios they would like to visit throughout the weekend.
